Edan Fiander of Geneva has retained the Surf Foil World Tour pump-foil world championship after the 2026 finale at Lake Traunsee.
The 20-year-old Swiss rider won four of five tour stops this season and finished second at the other. Titouan Tournus of France took silver. Austria’s Jurij Scheibler took bronze in front of a home crowd at Lakeventure in Ebensee, where the World Cup ran from 4–6 September.
Germany’s Marnie Bertram is the 2026 women’s champion. She arrived at Traunsee leading Sarah Spalinger of Switzerland, with Carla Eiben, Viola Lippitsch and Lena Oberperfler still close enough to change the podium.
No sail, no wing, no motor
Pump foil is the blunt version of the sport. Riders generate every metre of speed themselves, pumping the foil to stay flying through a technical course. There is no canopy to sheet and no throttle to cover a mistake. Endurance and timing decide heats that look simple from the beach and are not.
SFT staged the first pump-foil world championship last year. Fiander won it. He won it again, but not in a procession. “This year I almost always finished first, but the competition was clearly tighter,” he said after the title.
A lake that already knew the ending
Traunsee has become the autumn fixture. The racing sat inside Lakeventure Traunsee, alongside the Austrian Wingfoil Championships, workshops and shoreline courses close enough for spectators to read the laps. Defending champion Fiander arrived leading Tournus and Scheibler. The men’s order did not flip. The women’s title stayed with Bertram.
The tour had already used Düsseldorf in January for an indoor pump-foil World Cup and Munich in June as a combined e-foil and pump-foil stop. Traunsee was the one that handed out the world titles. SFT now points toward Dakhla in October for surf foil.
