Flite, the Brunswick-owned electric hydrofoil brand, and Mercury Racing launched Fliteboard RACE at CES 2026, calling it Fliteboard’s most powerful and fastest production e-foil.
The launch put a racing outboard name on a consumer foil board and aimed the product at the circuit SFT has spent two years building. That circuit just crowned world champions in Menton. RACE is specified with a custom impeller, top speeds of 34 mph (55 km/h), and FLITELab Flux surf-foiling wings.
Two electric sports, one trade-show week
The other electric story this month was not a full e-foil. It was foil assist. At AWSI in Hood River, Foil Drive defended the mast-top battery box. Duotone showed a waist-belt battery that takes pack weight off the board. Riift showed an integrated track and flush battery. Manta and Waydoo already sell mast-mount assist kits in the 4.5–7 kg range.
Assist is not an e-foil. The motor runs for a takeoff, a lull or a ride home. The wing stays in the rider’s hands. Full e-foils, including RACE, are the opposite product: the throttle is the session. SFT now lists foil assist on the Dakhla event page alongside surf foil.
