When you hear the words “Heaven on the Planet,” it sounds like a bold claim. But after spending a week at this incredible eco-resort on the southern tip of Lombok, Indonesia, I can honestly say—it lives up to the name.
This trip wasn’t just a getaway. It was a foiling adventure, a surf exploration, and a deep dive into the natural beauty of Ekas Bay. Alongside my good friend and fellow waterman, Sky Rama, we set out to experience everything this little slice of paradise has to offer. Spoiler alert: it delivered, and then some.
A Foiling Retreat Like No Other

Foiling in Lombok is next level. The conditions around Ekas are perfectly suited for it. From buttery smooth inside waves to the punchier outside reef breaks, the versatility here means you're on the water as much—or as little—as you like. Boats are always on standby with experienced drivers and water safety crew, so you can chase the best conditions any time of the day.
Sky and I spent our days switching between prone/tow foiling and wing foiling, exploring the variety of breaks. When the swell was up, we hit the inside reefs. On the smaller days, the outside reefs still had great conditions—perfect for foiling endless rides across crystal-clear water.

The food was next level—healthy, fresh, and seriously delicious. Whether it was post-surf breakfasts, sunset dinners, or snacks between sessions, the kitchen team made sure we were always fuelled and happy.
And if you want to capture the magic, there’s a drone pilot and surf photographer available. Trust me—nothing beats seeing yourself foil!
The Surf Playground of Ekas Bay
The surf itself deserves its own shoutout. Ekas Bay offers something for everyone. There’s the playful Inside Ekas, the heavier Outside Ekas, plus a handful of lesser-known breaks tucked just around the corner. When the swell gets big, the sheltered beaches start breaking. On smaller days, you head out to the more exposed reefs.
It’s one of those rare setups where you’re never really skunked. Between the foiling, the surfing, and the variety of waves, it’s about as consistent as you can hope for.
